Interior Design Impact On Boutique Hotels
A boutique hotel is a place to stay that is quite different from large chain hotels in a variety of ways. Chain hotels are recognizable first by their names, like Hilton, Radisson and Holiday Inn to name a few. Another characteristic of chain hotels are their cookie-cutter quality. Not so with boutique hotels. This type of hotel is a one-of-a-kind building that may be decorated around a certain theme. The interior design impact on boutique hotels is large indeed. Often it is the design of the interior that makes these hotels so unique.
For example, the Inn of the Anasazi is a popular boutique hotel located in Santa Fe. The decor here is decidedly Southwestern and features handmade touches like Native American throw rugs and gorgeous native pottery. Another great boutique hotel in this same area is the Inn of the Five Graces. This hotel is private yet close to all the attractions and has what can only be described as Southwest meets Asian style. The suites in this hotel are decorated with an eclectic mix of items not only from New Mexico but also more exotic destinations like India and Bali.
In San Francisco California you will find the Hotel Union Square which was the city's premier boutique hotel. This facility definitely pays homage to Prohibition-era San Francisco with its art deco theme reminiscent of an old fashioned speakeasy. The lobby is adorned with black granite and cream travertine tile and the walls are decorated with round mirrors and art. The hotel dates all the way back to 1915 and you will still find the original Egyptian style murals in the lobby entryway. Murals by the local art students give the hallways some local color. The Hotel Union Square is just another great example of a fantastic boutique hotel.
Interior design impact on boutique hotels is definitely substantial. You can go to almost any boutique hotel in the world and see incredible art, architecture and furnishings. Many travelers choose boutique hotels not only for the appealing design but also the old-fashioned charm. Many of these buildings date back many years and are rich with history. Because these hotels are not usually owned by large corporate chains you may also get a higher level of personalized service. Boutique hotels are perfect for architecture and interior design enthusiasts who want more unique accommodations than what can be found at the average chain hotel.
